About us - ODEON Point Village

About Us

Founded back in 1930, ODEON is the largest and best-known cinema chain in the UK and Ireland. And, famous the world over, ODEON Leicester Square has hosted over 700 of Europe’s biggest film premieres since the 1930s.

Perry Bar in Birmingham saw the first ODEON cinema open in 1930 and established the brand as not just somewhere to watch films, but somewhere to experience them. Iconic art deco architecture and the very latest technology became synonymous with ODEON where you didn’t just go to see a film, you went to the cinema.

In 2004, private equity firm Terra Firma acquired ODEON and the European operations of United Cinemas International including 3 cinemas around Dublin under the UCI brand. Over the years the Storm group of cinemas were also added to our circuit and in 2012 all of the Irish cinemas underwent extensive refurbishments and were rebranded as ODEON, becoming Ireland's newest and most modern cinema chain.

As a result, we are now part of the expanded ODEON and UCI Cinemas Group which is the number 1 operator in Europe.

We have been at the forefront of redefining cinemas by bringing new, exciting and innovative experiences to cinema such as full digital projection across the Irish estate and the amazing state-of-the-art ISENSE screens at ODEON Point Village and Blanchardstown

We pride ourselves in the very best cinema experience: cutting-edge technology and the widest choice of experiences (this extends way beyond the box office – we also screen live sports and cultural events and special screenings for specific groups).

We are fanatical about film. We are ODEON.
