I was put off seeing this film by other reviews saying it was boring. It may be boring to those who only want sex, violence, and car chases, but not to anyone who likes to indulge in thinking. Whether or not it was a hundred per cent historically accurate, it powerfully depicted the struggle for equality before the law and thus the basis for democracy. It also showed why the Americans are so attached to their constitution. It could have been shorter but nevertheless is well worth seeing.

The worst film I've ever seen. Wooden acting, wooden script no plot of interest. The Oscar was just because Abe is an American icon. Shame he is portrayed as such an uncharismatic person. I fell asleep several times- I wish it could have been for longer. Don't waste your money on this talentless bunch.

Yes it's politicallly intense but the rapid scene changes never permit it to be boring. The cast are excellent and Daniel Day Lewis simply becomes Lincoln. He is a softly spoken president so don't expect overly dynamic mannerisms - the man seemed to be more of a gentle giant. The ending is moving and the overall flavour of the film was more colourful and humourous than i'd expected. Not quite 5 stars...but not far off.
