About this Film

Contemporary reboot 'Carrie' follows a shy teenage girl with budding telekinetic powers as she is driven over the edge by an oppressive mother and cruel bullies.

At home, Carrie is subject to the strict rules of her unstable mother who does her utmost to keep her sheltered from the real world. Meanwhile at school, Carrie's naivety and awkwardness make her an obvious target for high school mean girls. But when her classmates humiliate her on prom night, it's one step too far for the tormented teenager and she puts her telekinetic powers to use with terrifying, blood-splattered results.

'Carrie' is directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry).

Total Film - 3/5 Stars

It's still not safe to go back to the Prom…

For anyone who’s spent their life locked in a cupboard, Carrie tells of the eponymous ugly duckling (Chloë Grace Moretz); bullied at school and oppressed at home by her religious fanatic mother (JulianneMoore).

Within minutes of meeting our ostracised heroine, she suffers the indignity of having her first period while showering after gym class; uncomprehending, her ordeal is made a whole lot worse by über-bitch Chris (Portia Doubleday) leading the class in a chant of “Plug it up!” while hurling tampons at Carrie’s cowering form.

An OK remake

Reviewer: dont-usually-do-reviews! Date: 2013-12-14

Just an OK remake, true to the original but nothing out of the ordinary, Lacks 'something' the original had.

Worse film ever

Reviewer: NewtDate: 2013-12-06

I had not seen the trailer for this but knew it was meant to be a horror, so I had no expectations. It wasn't scary, the acting was terrible, the plot poor and some scenes were just so ridiculous it was laughable. Avoid.

I went to see this movie 'being a big fan of the original' wanting to hate it but i'm afraid i couldn't. This movie really pacts a punch, especially during the infamous 'prom scene' . A great revenge(bully) horror movie remake. Recommended.

This updated version of Carrie was very enjoyable. The storyline doesn't differ hugely from the original but the acting and the effects are much better. This is more of a good old fashioned revenge flick...with lots of blood.
