ODEON says...

The incredible true story of Congressional Medal of Honour recipient Desmond Doss, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ follows the conscientious objector-turned-medic as he heads to the front line of World War II.

A committed pacifist, he refused to touch a gun or fire a bullet. His commanders were baffled, but eventually allowed him to serve on Okinawa, one of the war’s bloodiest battlefields. And there, a man they’d branded a coward would go above and beyond the call of duty, single-handed saving the lives of 75 men.

An inspiring story of courage under fire and staying true to your beliefs, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ stars Andrew Garfield as the heroic medic.

It was one of the best war films that i have ever seen. scary in places, but also very touching. It shows how brave people who go to war really are. I was scared but also compelled to watch and see what happened.

Excellent war film on a par with saving private ryan but and it is a big but in both films where are the black soldiers ??I have read numerous books on the 2nd world war and the black American soldier contributed in all aspects of the war

I watched this film on 2nd February, it was one of the most moving films I had ever seen. So much so I intend to watch it again. Excellent hard to believe I was not there. I was half perched on my seat throughout the combat scenes. *****
