About this Film

In crime thriller 'Prisoners', a Boston dad turns vigilante after his six-year-old daughter is kidnapped, embarking on a morally questionable campaign for answers.

Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) suffers every parent's worst nightmare when his young daughter and her friend are snatched from under his nose. Driven mad by desperation and frustrated by the inadequacy of the legal system, he kidnaps the man he believes to be responsible for the little girls' disappearance, which raises the question: how far is too far in the quest for justice?

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, 'Prisoners' features Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis and Terrence Howard.

Total Film - 4/5 Stars

Jackman and Gyllenhaal on an urgent search…

“He’s not a person any more,” Hugh Jackman’s God-fearing survivalist intones at the midway point of Denis Villeneuve’s (Incendies) draining English-language debut, in reference to a man (Paul Dano) whom he believes has kidnapped his daughter. The line, steeped in emotion, if a touch heavy-handed, sums up the strength of Aaron Guzikowski’s script.

Operating in the same slate-gray neo-noir space as David Fincher’s Se7en and Zodiac, Prisoners braids a grand tale of sin and possible redemption with a knotty, intelligently plotted investigative thriller.

This is a very good story. Yes it is long but not too long. The acting is excellent. Keeps you on the edge of your seat right through to the end. It is not hard to follow but you are not sure who is guilty until the story finally comes to an end.

I found this film very disappointing, it was excessively long with a very disjointed story line that left me feeling confused. The ending says it all, it was ill thought through and the delivery very very poor!

Very Good watch

I loved this film, full of suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. There's a lovely conflict of morals between the two main characters which makes the film a bit different from the usual good guy beats bad guy. Gets my 5 stars

very real
