Saving Mr. Banks

Mild/moderate thematic issues. Family tensions and stress.

About this Film

'Saving Mr. Banks' brings us back to a time before the word 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' existed and when Walt Disney was struggling to get 'Mary Poppins' made.

Walt is determined to get one of his children's favourite books off the pages and on to the screen, but author P.L. Travers has other ideas and refuses to hand over the rights. Not one to give up easily, Walt flies her out to the Disney studios and turns on the charm in an effort to coax her into submission.

'Saving Mr. Banks' stars Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson.

Total Film - 3/5 Stars

A flying nanny? Hail, Mary…

Opening with a vintage logo to the eye-misting strains of ‘Feed The Birds’, the tone is set for an affectionate look at the journey Mary took from the pages of P.L. Travers’ novel to the all-singing, all-dancing world of Walt Disney.

Emma Thompson plays the Aussie-born British writer as a prim grande dame who, understandably, doesn’t want to see her beloved creation turned into a theme-park ride. Flown out to LA to discuss the rights with Tom Hanks’ gregarious Uncle Walt, her stuffy English sensibilities land her right in the middle of Disneyland.

We seen this film earlier and i have to say Brilliant, Emma Thompson is totally on top of her game, fantastic performance. I'd personally rate this film as a must see, very emotional and you'll never watch Mary Poppins with the same view again.

A brilliant film and very funny. Emma Thomson's portrayl of Mrs. Travers was excellent.

Loved it!

Don't know why this film only has a 3.5 star rating; was totally fabulous. Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks are fantastic as are the rest of the cast. There are completely touching moments freely mixed in with laugh out loud scenes. Thoroughly recommend.

Brilliant cast.

Poignant film beautifully acted by the leads and others. Sadness mixed with humour. Stay until the end of the credits for a surprise
