About this Film

Benedict Cumberbatch portrays WikiLeaks editor and founder Julian Assange in political drama 'The Fifth Estate', which tracks the rise and fall of the famous whistleblowing website.

Director Bill Condon gives us the inside scoop on the controversial WikiLeaks organisation and the divisive leader at its helm, from the website's early days through to the headline-grabbing release of U.S. diplomatic cables. The timely drama is told through the eyes of Assange's close collaborator Daniel Domscheit-Berg, who famously split with Assange in 2010.

'The Fifth Estate' draws upon two key texts: Daniel Domscheit-Berg's 'Inside WikiLeaks' and 'WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy' by Guardian journalists David Leigh and Luke Harding.

Total Film 4/5 Stars

Don’t forget to take a leak first……

Even before Bill Condon's film had premiered at Toronto, IMDb's message board was fizzing with heated controversy. 'Propaganda', 'character assassination', 'deep-rooted ignorance', 'pro-Assange', 'anti-Assange' - the accusations zinged back and forth.

Come to the movie with an open mind - if you can, given how widely the whole Julian Assange/WikiLeaks affair has been splashed across the media - and you may end up wondering how much of the truth (and whose truth) you've been watching.

I have to rate this film as a 1 star, It's awful. IT is so dull. the plot could be so good but it's pace just dragged on like you won't believe. If you go to see this film bring a pillow and duvet. or better still wait for it's TV debut it's a drama.
