About this Film

The Current War

ODEON says...
Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse – one a brilliant inventor, the other a hugely successful businessman – fought each other in ‘The Current War’, over whose electricity system would power the world.

Whoever won this battle had the potential to control everything: lighting, communication and transportation could all be powered by this revolutionary new technology. And in the bitter, cutthroat competition that ensued, only one could ever come out on top.

A riveting drama about a defining moment in the history of technology, ‘The Current War’ stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Edison, Michael Shannon as Westinghouse and Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla.

The Current War will not have Audio Description or Hard of Hearing available.

Fascinating tale

The Current War is an impressive staging of a fascinating story, with a quartet of intense performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Tom Holland and Nicholas Hoult... http://www.derekwinnert.com/the-current-war-2017-benedict-cumberbatch-michael-shannon-tom-holland-nicholas-hoult-katherine-waterston-matthew-macfadyen-tuppence-middleton-movie-review/

No spark!

Well acted and i appreciate the historical importance of the subject matter but i just feel this film could have been better. It never really takes off and seems more of a docu-drama than a movie that's meant to be entertaining. Maybe it's just me.
